Fastival

Art Producer | 47-person team | 7 month cycle

Welcome to

GameLogo_Fastival.png

Fastival is an arcade racing game where players speed through different attractions within a vibrant and cartoony carnival. Players can knock down targets to trigger unique effects on the track and collect wacky items that can be used to mess with other racers to enhance driving capabilities.

As part of the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Guildhall program, I worked on a team of 47 developers to publish Fastival. I served as the Art Producer.

It was my first large team game project and I learned a lot from the experience. I worked on establising work pipelines, facilitating cross-discipline communication, and managing sprint planning and daily scrums.

I appreciate all the team member's support. We built trust within the team throughout the development process, and that's what makes the enjoyable art in fastival.

The development process faced several challenges. In the image on the left, I'm addressing the entire UI team during the Beta milestone, outlining priorities and goals. While we dedicated significant effort to the art assets, we underestimated the importance and workload of the UI, which caused difficulties in the later stages of development. As a producer, it was essential for me to not only organize priorities and tasks but also to instill confidence and motivate the team during this critical period.

I wrote my complete postmortem reflection for Fastival game developer blog, which can be viewed below:
